Dr. Peale says that the way to win over defeat is through Jesus. We all have a load to lift sometimes and we should let the strength and power of God flow into us. NVP shares the stories of several people who have learned to use that power including Paul Anderson, Olympic gold medalist.

Dr. Peale says we are all endowed with the power to overcome. He tells of Mt St Helens, a volcano in the state of Washington that erupted after 123 years. The power in it had building up until it burst. People are like volcanoes, they have the power equal to any circumstances they’ll ever face.

Dr. Peale quote W. A. Arnold who said, “The worst bankrupt in the world is the man who has lost his enthusiasm.” NVP says when you are out of enthusiasm you’re out of life its self. One is also bankrupt for whom life is no longer exciting. Life ought to be a perpetual thrill. Dr. Peale says that positive thinking is a synonym for faith. All the Gospel citations above say the same thing, that if you have faith, even as a grain of mustard seed, you can move the mountains of difficulty, pain, or hardship that beset you and cast them aside. All things are possible, nothing is impossible, if you put your faith in Jesus Christ and think positively. NVP shares the stories of several people who illustrate this.

Dr. Peale suggests six magic words. Believe you can and you can. When you have a problem first you pray about it, then take your mind and use it. Average person uses about 10% of their mind. There are three components that can deliver power: the insights received from God, your mental power and belief. Our loved ones that have passed are in the immortal side of eternity.”

When we become established on the Victory Road we find ourselves. We become organized. We become masters of ourselves. We take control of our lives. Dr. Peale says there is one sure thing in this life; you have to live it as long as you’re alive. That is an undisputable fact. So you might as well love life while you live it. But the most exciting fact is this: if you love life, life will love you back.
